The storyline for Charming was born during one of many morning commutes into London. Notes on scraps of paper, voice memos from car journeys and ideas hidden in desktop folders were eventually pieced together around a kicking 80s soundtrack until the first script for Charming was drafted in the summer of 2008.
Several drafts followed as Jon enhanced the storyline, developed the characters motives and great songs were replaced by better ones. A read-through at Jerwood Space in 2011 was followed by an intense four day workshop at the end of 2012. Directed by Joe Harmston, with a professional cast of ten actors, this led to an entertaining rehearsed reading at the Tristan Bates Theatre.
The book has been revamped further this year with plans being made for a potential world premier performance in 2020.
